| El Puerto de Santa Maria Bull Ring |
The city on the other side of the Base is El Puerto de Santa Maria. or the Port of Saint Mary. It is a little bigger than Rota and is right on the Rio Guadalete. This city is famous for making Sherry Wine and Bull fighting. The Bull is synonymous with Spain, but Bull fighting itself isn't popular in most of Spain, except here in Southern Spain. El Puerto de Santa Maria has its very own Bull Ring so seeing it in person won't be very hard, we just need to have the stomach for it. We'll see how that goes! Either way I learned very quickly that you never cheer for the Bull.
Discovering this city will be continuous as we venture into town to friends houses and out to restaurants and events. So far we like what we've seen.

| Spain has been influenced by so many civilizations. Here is the Castillo de San Marcos, built in the 13th century on the foundation of an Arabic Mosque. This is in downtown El Puerto. |

Way to root for the underdog (or underbull, I guess). Somebody in Spain's got to!
